K-5 Social Studies Follow-up

This is a follow-up to the Social Studies Workshops held earlier in the year.

This collaborative session is designed for K-5 educators to continue the work of implementing the 2021 Minnesota Social Studies Standards. Teachers will work in small groups to:

  • Identify and curate primary and secondary sources aligned to bundled benchmarks.

  • Use generative AI tools to develop robust, standards-aligned unit plans.

  • Build a scope and sequence for the year.

This is a working session - educators will leave with tangible products and a clear path forward.

K-5 Social Studies Standards Workshop

In collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota Humanities Center, Sourcewell invites educators to participate in an engaging and informative workshop specifically designed for K-5 social studies educators. We will look at the new 2021 Minnesota social studies standards as well as provide time for teachers to collaboratively bundle benchmarks into cohesive, interdisciplinary instructional units.

Here are some comments from summer participants: ”I'm glad I attended as I am feeling MUCH more in the know about the new social studies standards. There is a lot of work to be done!” ”The resources were wonderful! Bundling examples were something that I needed to see.” ” Great layout of the day to allow for questions, sharing, work time.”
